I just finished editing the short story that I’m working on for my writing critique group. It’s called ‘The Walk In.’ It’s about a guy who is killed in a traffic accident, but who’s spirit ends up trapped inside the body of a young woman, a good Samaritan who stopped to give him C.P.R.

I know you’re probably thinking, “Why is this guy writing about spirits when doesn’t even really believe in that sort of thing anymore.” Well, I don’t have a good answer for you. Probably the best I could say is that I still find the idea of the supernatural interesting. I still love a good ghost story. I still love learning about religion, just for different reasons.

Before, the supernatural was very serious to me. Now, it’s all fun, games, and wild speculation.

I was at work a couple of days ago and I had a fellow employee ask me for some help lifting a heavy object. As always I was glad to help. When I started to lift the thing I noticed that I could easily do it on my own, so I did. After setting the thing down where she wanted, she said to me:

“Thank you so much. I’m glad we have a strong man like you to take care of these things. You know the Bible says that us women need men, and I didn’t vote for all the women’s liberation stuff any how.”

I was honestly kind of shocked, although I shouldn’t have been. This lady was a Christian, and I am well aware of the kind of submission/weakness mindset that Christianity inculcates in it’s female followers. But to hear such a self-defeating phrase come out of this poor woman’s mouth just set me aback. I told her, “you’re welcome,” and went on my way. I knew her programming would not let her accept what I really wanted to tell her. I wanted to tell her how foolish what she said was. I wanted to tell her that there are more kinds of strength than simple brute force. I wanted to tell her that there were half a dozen men in this place that would have had a hard time lifting this thing alone, and at least two other women that could have lifted it just as easily as I had. I most importantly I would have wanted to tell her that she was every bit my equal, whether she voted for it or not.

This past week I’ve been really trying to get back into the whole blogging/web site thing. I’ve been upgrading a web site that I built a few years ago for a church here in Maryville, and I’m also starting a new blog for my writing group, The Knox Writer’s Refuge. In all the activity, I have realized how neglected I have left this blog. I’ve been pouring over the mess of finished and unfinished posts and pages, the collection of barley used categories, and the hoards of obsolete plugins. This blog is a cluttered mess. I never intended it to get like this.

I have decided to declutter this blog in the hope of making in half way usable and interesting again. For starters, I’ve deleted all the posts that have video clips from my Youtube channel. That’s not what this site is for. If you like my videos, just subscribe to my Youtube channel. As far as this site is concerned, I’m going to try to keep it in a text format.

As far as the rest of the posts, I’m going to leave them alone. I’ve tried to do too many different kinds of formats here: news, video, podcasting, etc. From now on I’m going to try to keep this blog about my personal experiences and thoughts. You know, the deep philosophical randomness that I have become known for.

If you like it, comment and let me know. If not, let me know anyway. I like to hear from people.

Well, it was nasty, but it was quick. Denice and I have contracted the dreaded swine flu ((OMINOUS SOUND EFFECT))! Denice had headaches all day yesterday, and they started hitting me early this morning. By 10:00 am, I was puking my guts out. Less than an hour later, I was curled up in bed with stomach pain, headaches, and cold sweats. However, as fast as it came on me, it appears to have departed just as quickley, because I feel fine now. Denice is still in bed with nausia and headaches, but I suspect she will be fine by morning.

So, final thought: the Swine Flu isn’t so scary, and isn’t anywhere near as bad as the regular flu.

It’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been putting a lot more time into my Youtube channel and Twitter stream. I’m trying to get everything a little more integrated. I’m still trying to figure out what role SpiritfX.com is going to play in all this. I’ve thought about retiring this site for a while now, but every time I start to move forward, I get a gut feeling that I need to hold on to it.

Anyway, I’m trying to build support for my social networking pages. I’m going to be doing some controversial stuff on Youtube in the near future. It will most certainly offend a lot of people, especially religious people, but I can’t help that. I have to be who and what I am. No more hiding, no more posing.

If you haven’t connected with me on the social networks, please do so. It will be entertaining, for sure.
